We received the following message from Fr. Desiré Salako, S.M.A., in Africa for Easter, together with some photos. The fate of Fr. Pierluigi, the missionary priest of his province who was abducted by an Islamist gang in Niger last September, remains unknown. We continue to pray for his deliverance and for all captives who are in similar circumstances.

Sunday, April 7th, 2019:

Bonjour, Pére:

I’m well. I’m back from Niger, where we had an ecumenical prayer for Fr. Pierluigi Maccalli. We didn’t get any news. We continue to pray. I’m in Benin now where I’m supervising the construction of our Seminary Chapel, the one you contributed to build through my summer appeal. Works are going well. Thank God for that. I pray for you—pray for us. By the grace of God, we will see each other the 1st of July. Greet all the parishioners.

God bless you,

Fr. Desiré Salako, S.M.A.
